Björn Again is playing at Dubai Opera and a friend rounds us up for a night of ABBA fun.
It’s crazy to think that this ABBA musical tribute has been around since 1988 when the band that it is dedicated to is only a bit over a decade older. Created in Australia, Björn Again’s musical tribute act parodying the iconic 1970s Swedish pop group, is almost as iconic these days as the original.
We’re back at my favorite Dubai landmark and on the way, I pause to look up and appreciate the iconic Burj Khalifa. The forecourt of the fountains is packed and from the mall all the way along I’m dodging the crowd. It’s easy to walk along and forget where you are in Dubai and important to remember to pause every now and then to properly appreciate this incredible city.
Björn Again
At the Opera House I wait for my friends to arrive. I have made it with only a few minutes to spare and they are running even later, no doubt stuck in Boulevard traffic. Thankfully Celine has pinged my my ticket and I’m able to settle into my seat.
The show is good. The crowd is ready and from the first song there is dancing and singing along. The performers don’t disappoint with their incredible voices, great musical performances and enough dance moves and corny jokes to keep everyone entertained.
The first half has enough of a mix of the oldies but goodies to keep us all going. The dance moves are classic and enough visual interest for it to feel like a concert.

It’s so much fun and by the end, fwhen Dancing Queen is finally played as the encore, the whole crowd are up on our feet dancing and singing along.
After the show, I vow to buy myself a pair of white, knee high boots.
Good To Know
Björn Again is a well versed machine of ABBA classics. They manage to keep it fresh enough to remain fun and the full house tonight certainly helped electrify the atmosphere at Dubai Opera.
