The Shangri-La Bar Al Jissah resort at Bandar Jissah would be a wonderful getaway for a weekend retreat.
There are actually a few distinct buildings that share the private beach at Bandar Jissah, all of which look wonderful. The views as you drive down to the resort from the high road above are spectacular, as are the entrance and foyer of the main resort reception.
As it turns out we aren’t staying here for the weekend. We have popped in on a bit of a whim for a coffee on a detour from our afternoon drive. We end up staying for a couple of hours whilst my son had a snooze in the coffee shop. My husband and older son go for a walk and discover the magnificent grounds of the resort, complete with a lazy river, which connects one end of the resort with the other. There are a myriad of restaurants, cafes and bars available too.
They take a walk out to the sea arch. Jasper & I were lucky enough to view this from the sea the previous day, going through it on the boat trip we took for dolphin watching and snorkeling.
Before too long we have drunk our coffees and are back in the car again. However, I have this pegged for a long weekend away from it all…
Would I Return?
Absolutely. The Shangri-La at Bandar Jissah would be a fantastic romantic getaway. The facilities are first class, the staff friendly and attentive and the location spectacular. I’d want to make sure that I didn’t have anything else on my agenda for the duration of my stay as Muscat proper is a bit of a drive and it would be a shame to stay here and not make the most of the resort facilities. There are enough activities here to keep the kids amused if you don’t have a choice – kid’s club, cool zone, camel rides, children’s pool and the lazy river, not to mention the beach. Just be sure to check opening times and availability in advance.
