Bateaux Dubai

Seating on board

We are only here by luck.  Our Bateaux Dubai cruise was an ‘extra’ on our resort weekend stay at the JA Palm Tree Court. We nearly decided to forego it, though thank goodness we didn’t!

Batteaux Dubai

Appearing as a bonus in the fine print, we have completely underestimated the value and enjoyment of this activity.  We have now been in Dubai for a few months and have seen some of the weathered tourist dhows cruising up and down the Creek. With only a handful of passengers seated at the windows, our expectations for tonight were not particularly high.  However, having nothing else on our priority list, we decided to partake. Perhaps as much for the rare night out together as for the included dinner.

Dinner Cruise

We arrive at sunset and have a little time before we depart. So we stroll along the river, admiring our transport for the evening, the lovely Bateaux Dubai.  This glass roofed, purpose built boat, was designed by Seine Design. It is reminiscent of the boats that cruise along on Paris’ Seine river: an elegant mix of restaurant; bar; and tourist attraction.

Appertisers

On board we are promptly seated at a table for two. We have first class window seats along with a first class view as the attentive waiter takes our drink order.  We sit and chat for a while. Then, after our waiter returns to note our dinner choices, take the opportunity for a walk around the boat. I look out on the Creek, the dark water, the bright light. I breathe and enjoy the view as the night drifts by.

Elegant entrees

It’s slow going. With a limit of 4 knots on the Creek I hardly feel that we’re moving at all. But we have all night, plus the boat is so steady and quiet that I’m completely relaxed.

When it arrives, dinner is a first class affair. The dishes are exquisitely presented, the meals are fresh and flavorful.

A perfectly cooked offering

After entree we’re invited to take a walk around and visit the alfresco bar.  We take some photos and then head back to our table. Relaxing into our seats with another drink we watch the night drift by.

I’m enjoying myself so much that I haven’t even noticed that we’ve turned around and are heading back already.  Dessert helps ease this realisation and before too long we’re docking and the night comes to an end.

Divine desserts

I chat with one of the waiters on the bus transfer back to the resort.  An Egyptian he usually works the bar at the resort but has been reassigned duties during Ramadan.

Before too long we’re back at the resort and I sink into bed, wondering when we’ll have some visitors to take on a Bateaux Dubai dinner cruise.

Good To Know

Bookings for Bateaux Dubai are recommended. Take a stroll through the Al Fahidi or Al Seef Historical Districts whilst you’re in the old town area.

Would I Return?

Yes. This is a very nice combination of an excellent meal with a tourist attraction. In addition it is a delightful way to see the Creek at night time.
