El Rincon Latino

The day started with a long walk on this fine Saturday morning from Kennington down to Tooting to visit Brad & Diana (about 1.5 hours). It was a gorgeous day, the first of the season. About 14 degrees Celcius and the first day I have ventured out of the house without a coat. After a quick cuppa with them followed by a bus ride home for a shower and quick turnaround, we meet again, along with another friend (Fiona) for dinner at a Latin American tapas place, El Rincon Latino, in Clapham.

It was excellent. The food, the atmosphere, the service.

Our selections included: fried squid, meatballs, fish, blue cheese croquettes, battered aubergine, squid & prawns in sauce, chips & guacamole, chicken risotto and a couple of others that I didn’t get to taste. We shared the plates and it was all very delectable.

The tapas was excellent all in all and a beer afterwards to top it all off meant that I was in bed by about 11.30pm. This would have been late enough for my 7am wake up call tomorrow to explore Bath, Winchester and Stonehenge, but the people next door came home very late and very rowdy and belted out karaoke ‘Simply the Best’ for several hours. Simply not the best start for a long day of touring ahead. It was worth it for those blue cheese croquettes though!

Good To Know

This is an excellent local family run find if you are in Clapham or the vicinity. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is friendly and the service is relaxed.

Book ahead if you are in a group.

Would I Return?

Yes. I’m dreaming of those blue cheese croquettes.

Update: I understand this restaurant has now closed.
