Royal Beach

When the sea breeze awakens the taste buds a visit to Royal Beach is in order. Royal Beach is a private beach and restaurant affiliated with the Hotel Royal Antibes.

After our morning walk around Phare de la Garoupe, we now sit in the light sea breeze, with our seaside table facing Cap d’Antibes, overlooking the Bay of Ilette.

Already late afternoon, we are tempted by the menu offering fresh and healthy cuisine. It is apparent that the menu is inspired by Mediterranean flavors: salads, carpaccios, fish and meat specialties abound as well as a selection of fresh pastas.

Linguini Aux Palourdes

The linguini with clams (aux palourdes) tempts me so I decide to partake in the famous Côte d’Azur seafood offerings. Jason selects the seafood basket – a selection of squid, fish and prawns served with the local aioli.

Fritto Misto

We order a bottle of Domaine Amourdedieu Blanc de Blanc and settle in for a laid back lunch.

Both the linguini and seafood basket are good. Likewise the wine as we soak in the afternoon and linger a little longer than we usually would.

Beach Club & Restaurant

There’s a bunch of kids jumping off the nearby rocks that belong to the table behind us. Every now and then dripping children return to their adults for something or other before being ‘fixed’ and heading off again. We relax a little more, knowing that today at least, we’re not dealing with these issues.

Lingering over another glass of wine we’re finally prepped for the walk back to Antibes. Let’s see where the rest of the afternoon takes us…
