There are surprisingly a lot of things to do in the desert. Particularly when we find ourselves at a Bedouin Oasis. We escape Dubai for a night and head to Ras Al Khaimah to experience the desert at its best. Here are the top 5 things to do in the desert at a Bedouin Oasis:

5. Sand Boarding
Brings the big kid out in all of us on the proviso that you have a little fitness to go along with that big kid!
4. Camel Rides
Camel rides are for everyone. Big and small alike can enjoy a trip on the desert’s own express train. Beware the bumpy mount but once you’re up and going, you feel like you’re almost flying.

Camp fires are traditionally reserved for winter anywhere but the season for camp fires in the UAE is decidedly shorter than most places. Make the most of winter under the stars with a desert camp fire and some marshmallows.
2. Fire Dancer
An evening in the desert is not complete without some entertainment. After the camp’s fires have spread the smells of dinner around the area and we have feasted on traditional Middle Eastern fare, we settle in to watch the belly dancer and fire dancer wow the audience.
1. Quad Biking
Quad biking is rather exhilarating. In the desert it is even more so. Around a few bends with the camp is out of sight and the dunes stretched before us I am giddy with the sense of freedom and fun.

There are many desert experiences available in the UAE. Day trips will allow a taste of some dune bashing, a camel ride and a meal with entertainment. However, if you have time, linger a little longer and enjoy a night soaking in the whole desert experience.
